Wild, cunning, and mischievous as all Fae may be, Fae Folk are all very different in their own rights. In her collection of short fiction, All the Things That Hide in the Woods, author Grace Regan explores the lives and mythologies of several difference Fae Folk. The first story, The Bonewitch, tells the story of Deia, a bonewitch who must come to terms with and atone for a sin committed seven years prior. The second, The Visitor, foretells death of a loved one and the cost that must be paid to keep evil at bay. The third, The Fox Door, cautions against the unknown and to treasure friendship. The final story told, The Girl in the Stream, counsels against trusting strangers blindly in order to follow one’s dreams. Although many Fae are not dangerous, these tales caution of those whose natures do not favour those of humans.
